Solid Foundation COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan

The following guidelines provide information and procedures on how Solid Foundation will safely provide care amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We will provide new information and guidance as it develops.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Establish procedures for drop-off and pick-up to maintain physical distancing. The sign-in and sign out will be outside the facility by the double doors. We will provide hand sanitizer or hand washing facilities to use before and after families sign in and out. We will also be taking donations for hand sanitizer. There will be no sharing of pens or pencils. Parents should bring their own pens when signing children in and out. Once school begins and classes are established, we will consider alternating drop-off and pick-up stations for each small group to avoid a large number of people gathering outside the facility.

Daily Health Screening

We will conduct a health check on each child before their parent leaves. Staff is required to wear a mask during the health check. We will ask about fever, cough, and trouble breathing within the last 24 hours. With a touchless thermometer, we will do a temperature screen of all staff and children at the beginning of the day. We will clean and disinfect the thermometer after each use.

Staff should check their temperatures and for COVID-19 symptoms at home before coming to work. If anyone, staff, child, or household resident, has a temperature of 100.4° F or higher or other signs of COVID-19 (dry cough, shortness of breath) they must be excluded from all school activities immediately and consult their health care provider. Children or staff who are sick with other illnesses meeting usual exclusion criteria should also stay home to be on the safe side.

Children or Staff Who Develop COVID-19 Symptoms during the Day

If for some reason we only have a digital thermometer available, we may use it if a fever is suspected during the day. If a child or staff member becomes ill during the day with fever (100.4 degrees or higher), dry cough, and/or shortness of breath, they will be isolated, and their family will be notified to pick them up right away. We will apply a mask to staff and children. Ill children will be closely monitored, if symptoms persist or worsen, the child’s health care provider for further guidance. Parents should attach a copy of the child’s insurance card (if applicable) to the registration form in the event of an emergency.

Hand Hygiene

Children and staff are required to wash their hands upon entering the facility and frequently thereafter. We will follow strict hand hygiene procedures at all times as well as continually educating students about the importance of hand hygiene. We will display proper hand washing guidelines/posters for staff and children in bathrooms and near sinks. We will use hand sanitizer (60% or more alcohol) when soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

We will disinfect high-touch surfaces including manipulative toys, door handles, light switches, and electronic devices. We have a schedule and tracking sheet for cleaning and disinfecting. Other measures to avoid spreading disease include: wearing a mask (adults and children over two years old, if possible), covering your cough and sneeze, and keeping your hands away from your face

Meals and Snacks

Whenever food is served, or whenever we eat at school during school hours. We will make sure children wash their hands before and after they eat. Children will be seated with more distance between them than usual (six feet, if possible).

Guidance on Physical Distancing

Smaller, stable groups reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Each group will have a maximum of 10 children. Each group will have the same children and same instructor. Each facilitator will have their own group in/and their own classrooms.

We will plan activities for individual play and small groups that do not require close physical contact, waiting in line, or sharing objects. Provide proper ventilation indoors. Open windows safely for fresh air. Ventilate the facility before and after children arrive. We will arrange furniture to allow for more physical distancing. Outdoor play is encouraged and part of our daily activities so children can get fresh air and physical activity. We will stagger indoor and outdoor play and adjust schedules to reduce the number of children in the same area. We will disinfect high-touch outdoor play equipment and keep a distance of six feet when possible. We will find creative ways for children to create their own space while staying socially engaged. Students and staff must refrain from hugging and shaking hands.

Communication

We will Communicate with Families using the email address on your application. Inform families about your policies during the COVID-19 pandemic using posters, social media, group texts, and/or newsletters. Staff, students, and anyone in the family household should inform the program immediately if anyone is diagnosed with COVID-19 or comes in contact with someone with the virus. We will contact Memorial Drive Ministries, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Summer Camp Families and the local public health department, immediately, if we become aware of confirmed COVID-19 cases among staff or children.
